At the request of King Charles … Prince Harry wears a military uniform for the first time since he gave up his royal duties

London, UK (CNN) – Buckingham Palace has released details of the uniforms worn by Prince William and Prince Harry at the ceremony honoring their grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, on Saturday night at Westminster Hall.

He is wearing William, Prince of Wales, his “Blues and Royals” uniform, uniform no. 1, garter band, garter star, gold, diamond and platinum jubilee medals and RAF pilot wings.

Harry, Duke of Sussex, wore his “Blues and Royals” uniform, uniform no. 1, KCVO Neck and Star Medal, Afghanistan Operational Service Medal, Gold, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee, and Army Pilot Wing Medals.

A royal source previously told CNN that Prince of Wales William will be in charge of Queen Elizabeth’s coffin and that Harry, Duke of Sussex, will stand at her feet for a 15-minute pause in honor.

The source added that the two princes wore military uniforms at the request of their father, King Charles III.

Prince Harry’s use of the military uniform comes nearly a year and a half after he and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, relinquished their royal duties and privileges in January 2020.
