Schiphol has not agreed on a departure agreement with outgoing CEO Dick Benschop. Since he has chosen not to complete his second term, Benschop cannot claim financial compensation. A spokesperson confirms this after reporting from The Financial Times.
Benschop made his position as CEO of Schiphol Group available Thursday. The pressure on Benschop to resign continued to build as Schiphol was unable to end the chaos at the airport.
There have been persistent problems at the airport since the May holidays; there are long lines and travelers miss their flights. Airlines also had to cancel flights due to crowds.
Schiphol is struggling with a shortage of security guards, but the situation is also dire when it comes to sorting luggage.
In 2021, Benschop received a salary of € 585,284, including pension contributions. Due to the crown crisis and the financial support Schiphol received from the government for the continued payment of salaries, the board members did not receive any bonuses.
Bonuses can usually amount to a maximum of 20 percent of the fixed annual salary, which was just under € 444,000 in Benschop last year.
