Two masked men pulled Kheira Hamraoui out of her car near the forest of Boulogne, and the 32-year-old reservist then began beating her legs with a grounded iron bar.

Immediately after the incident, Diallo was suspected of orchestrating the attack because he was competing with Hamraoui for a place in the lineup. The player pleaded not guilty and was eventually released from custody without charge.
