Fans of the British royal family have been actively discussing the arms of the newly appointed King Charles III for several days. Internet users of the photo noticed that the monarch’s fingers were very swollen.
After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, when all public attention was focused on the monarch and his son, many Internet users noticed the swelling of Charles’ hands. Old photos of Charles can be seen on social media, comparing the king’s swollen fingers to Vienna sausages.
British doctor Gareth Nye commented on the Daily Star which diseases may be hidden behind these swellings. He explained that the swelling is proof that the body has problems with removing fluids. In Charles’s case, it could be age-related changes (the symptom occurs after sitting for long periods of time), arthritis in the hands, excessive salt intake, or a side effect of high blood pressure medications.
It should be noted that the king himself, during a visit to Australia in 2012, joked about his fingers, calling them “sausages”.
