The classic 8-year-old game “The Sims 4” will be launched. In free-to-play mode starting October 18th. Multiple platforms including PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X will provide free version downloads, but this is limited to the game itself and all DLC is still paid. If you have already purchased the game or purchased it before October 17, EA will include a Desert Luxe Kit DLC with American Southwest desert-inspired furniture as a reward.
So far The Sims 4 has launched 12 major expansions and countless content packs, many of which have changed the gaming experience to a great extent, introducing many additional mechanics in The Sims 4. Therefore, it’s not hard to imagine that for EA, instead of to earn this little money from the body of “The Sims 4”, it is better to introduce more people to the world of “The Sims 4”, and then rely on the sale of expansions to make money.
As for where The Sims will go in the future, EA said the Maxis development studio will continue to develop new and meaningful gaming experiences, bringing more expansions and content packs in the near future. The two will also host an online live stream on October 18 to share next steps for The Sims.
