No trains between Breda and Roosendaal until Thursday evening after a major fire

Due to the great fire of a freight train in Etten-Leur, no trains run between Breda and Roosendaal until eight on Thursday evening. ProRail reports it. The freight train was carrying hybrid cars. Forty went up in flames.

The damage to the runway is so severe that the works are taking longer than expected. ProRail previously reported that no other trains would run on this route for the remainder of Wednesday.

“The train has to be towed in parts. Only then can the track repair take place,” the company said in a new statement Wednesday evening.

Brand
A fire broke out in a freight train near Etten-Leur on Wednesday around noon after an overhead cable ended up on the train. Forty iris wagons carrying the train went up in flames. It is still unclear how this could have happened, ProRail reports.

The train would be bound for Vlissingen Sloehaven. There were no passengers on the train. A lot of smoke was released during the fire. People nearby have been warned to stay away from that smoke.
