–Qatar Airwaysvoted “Best Airline in the World” at the 2021 Skytrax Awards and Australia’s Most Popular Airline, Virgin Australiahave officially started a strategic partnership that significantly expands the route network, VIP lounges and loyalty programs of both airlines, offering travelers important benefits and new destinations.
Announced in May 2022, the association opens the possibility to travel to over 150 destinations through Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia’s extensive destination networks, creating a new option for seamless travel between Australia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa. Flights can now be booked on the websites of both airlines.
Privilege Club members will be able to accumulate Avios and QPoints on flights operated by Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer members will be able to accumulate Velocity and Status Credit points on flights operated by Qatar Airways. Seats to be booked through loyalty points are also available on selected services operated by both airlines. Starting September 12, eligible members of both loyalty programs will also receive additional benefits, including priority check-in, priority boarding and lounge access, regardless of travel class.
This strategic partnership will provide a major business and tourism boost for Australia and Qatar, while opening a world of new travel opportunities for customers of both airlines.
