For many years, Ferrari bosses said they would never launch an SUV, but times have changed, customers demand such cars and profit margins are high. Ferrari unveiled its first SUV, Purosangue, a model that will cost starting at € 390,000, being the most expensive SUV on the market, along with the Rolls Royce Cullinan.

Purosangue has a V12 engine, 6.5 liters, reaches from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.3 seconds and the top speed is 310 km / h. The company worked on the project for a total of four years.
To preserve the car’s exclusivity, Ferrari has announced that Purosangue will represent a maximum of 20% of the brand’s annual production. Ferrari has a maximum capacity of 15,000 cars / year and no more than 3,000 will be thoroughbreds. The car has four doors and four seats.
Deliveries in Europe will begin in the second quarter of 2023. The company said that only in 2018 the technology available to allow it to build a super sports car weighing less than two tons.
Company bosses said the interest was so high that Ferrari may soon run out of orders.
The name means “thoroughbred”, in the sense of a horse of the chosen race, thoroughbred. The late Sergio Marchionne, former Ferrari CEO, was asked in 2016 if Ferrari wanted to launch an SUV. “You should shoot me first,” he replied.
In 2017 the design office formulated the first proposals and in 2018 the first full-size prototypes were made.
Ferrari had a record 2021 with deliveries of 11,155 cars, more than 2,000 more than in 2020. 2019 was the first year in which the 10,000 car delivered threshold was exceeded, while between 2011 and 2015 there are no the value exceeded 8,000 in any year.
Nearly 5,500 Ferrari cars were delivered in Europe last year, an all-time record. In 2017 it delivered fewer than 2,500 cars, and 2008 was the first year it came close to 3,000.
