Yuri Shatunov’s death this summer generated heated public debate. The artist Sergey Penkin, unlike many, decided not to participate in the ceremony and openly share his opinion.
In an interview with a YouTube program “Warning: Sobchak!” Penkin talked about the “Tender May” group. The musician was critical of the popular ensemble, defining his work as “primitive”. Also, the artist recalled that when he was still starting his career, he was asked about his attitude towards “Tender May”. Penkin then also replied that “there is no way” refers to the cult group.
“Well, primitive music is simple. When you listen to other music in life, you are educated differently. This is equivalent to the fact that you were driving a Zaporozhets, and then driving a Mercedes and like this: “Stop! There are good cars!” Penkin said.
