Dozens of district offices a Russia inviting the president Vladimir Putin resign from office. The call comes amid reports that Moscow troops are facing setbacks in military operations in the Ukraine.
As reported CNNOn Tuesday (9/13/2022), according to a petition with a list of signatures posted on Twitter Monday (9/12) local time, city deputies from 18 districts in the Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kolpino regions called for Putin’s resignation . .
“We, the deputies of Russian cities, believe that the actions of President Vladimir Putin are harmful to the future of Russia and its citizens,” reads the petition published by the local deputy of the Semenovsky district in St. Petersburg, Ksenia Thorstrom.

“We demand the resignation of Vladimir Putin from the post of President of the Russian Federation”, reads the petition.
The petition follows the first regional and municipal elections to be held since Russia invaded Ukraine. Pro-Kremlin candidates are known to have swept away the elections.
“The petition taxis are concise and don’t ‘discredit’ anyone. If you are a city MP and want to join, go ahead,” Thorstrom said in a separate statement via Twitter.
Separately, the council of one of the Moscow districts, Lomonosovksy, also called for Putin’s resignation. “Your views and your model of government are obsolete and hinder the development of Russia and its human potential,” said the district council, referring to Putin.
