Cools is a former youth representative of Belgium, but in the adult category he plays for his native Malaysia. He got his biggest success in Bruges, with which he won the Belgian championship three times. In total, he played for them in 106 games and recorded eight goals and ten assists. He also has nine Champions League appearances.
