Former Chelsea, now Wolverhampton Wanderers, Diego Costa returns to the Premier League

The relocation of the former Chelsea star to Molineux has finally been completed after being hampered by a work permit.

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa is back in the Premier League, with the eccentric striker now joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 33-year-old hasn’t had a club since breaking up with Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in January.

However, that didn’t stop the striker who scored 59 goals in three seasons at Stamford Bridge between 2014 and 2017 from returning to England, where he has already won two league titles and the League Cup.

What did Diego Costa say after joining Wolves?

Costa told the Wolves official website about his goals: “Scoring goals, doing my best, giving everything. Finding my place as a person, as a player and understanding how I really feel because it’s a great challenge.”

“It is not an easy challenge because you will not play in an easy league and you cannot play it as you would like.”

“It’s a very demanding competition, especially physically and it’s something good to test myself and I’m ready to face it.”

Wolves have hired Costa as a temporary replacement for their summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic who injured his cruciate ligament on his debut and is likely to become manager Bruno Lage’s immediate priority.

His transfer to the Wolves was blocked by a work permit

In addition to shining with Chelsea, Costa also won two La Liga crowns with Atletico Madrid helping them qualify for the Champions League final.

However, he hasn’t made international appearances since 2018 and the Wolves were forced to appeal under the pretext of “exceptional circumstances” to grant him a work permit in England, seeing his first application rejected.
