This condition can occur when cats kiss or lick each other. The saliva of a cat with panleukopenia can attach itself to a healthy cat’s body and make it sick.
According to Elfan, panleukopenia can also affect domestic cats that never leave the house because the owner is still away. That is, the transmission occurs indirectly.
“The owner enters and leaves the house and from his shoes or clothes can be related to the secretions of a cat with panleukopenia. (For example) passing through the area of a cat with panleukopenia and stepping on or being exposed to (le feces). They bring the virus (home), “he said.
How to prevent yourself is quite easy and is divided into two, namely internal and external prevention.
Internal prevention can be done, from vaccinations that are scheduled and by providing vitamins, food, and medications that have been recommended by veterinarians.

“The initial symptoms were immediately at the vet, you don’t have to wait for them to get worse. When they go to the vet, most of them are given drugs via infusion or injections,” Elfan said.
Even though he was taken to the vet, Elfan explained that the cure rate for panleukopenia isn’t necessarily 100%.
However, the vet will still do various ways to overcome the symptoms caused by this disease.
“For example, heat will be controlled by body temperature. If the diarrhea is accompanied by blood, a good antibiotic should be given immediately and according to directions, ”she explained.
This series of things, when accompanied by feeding and accepted by the cat’s body, the cure rate is quite high, especially in kittens between the ages of two and three months whose mothers have been vaccinated according to the schedule.
“If the mother is not vaccinated, we only rely on the cat’s immune system. We try to resuscitate him through an IV, feed him and give him medicine. They can fight diseases with their own bodies,” he said.
