On the 19th President Yoon Seok-yeol will attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Kim Eun-hye, head of public relations at the presidential office, said on the 11th: “President Yoon will attend Queen Elizabeth II’s crest to be held at Westminster Abbey in London on the 19th.”
President Yoon is expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly to be held in New York in the middle of this month and is expected to visit the UK first.
Queen Elizabeth II died on the 8th and, after 10 days of mourning, a funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey on the 19th.
King Charles III of England is expected to welcome key figures from around the world and members of the foreign royal family to attend the funeral on the 16th and 18th.
The presidential office appears to have decided to attend the Queen’s funeral in consideration of the fact that prominent figures from around the world will attend the funeral one after another, including US President Joe Biden.
Meanwhile, the presidential office sends a special congratulatory delegation led by former National Assembly member Jeong Byeong-guk to the inauguration ceremony of the new Kenyan president William Ruto on the 13th.
