Prize-giving for “The Worst Person in the World” – VG

Saturday was once again ready for the annual Amanda Prize, which this year is organized at the Festiviteten in Haugesund.

It was Odd Magnus Williamson who led the show when 22 awards were to be awarded.

– It was a lot of fun to receive the audience award, I didn’t expect it, a director Joachim Trier says satisfied to VG after the awards ceremony.

He is ready to praise the main actor of the film.

– I am particularly proud of Renate Reinsve.

Trier also boasts of his friend Eskil Vogt, the director of “The Innocents,” by far the second most successful film of the evening with four awards.

The party continues until evening, we believe Trier.

He says the gang behind “The World’s Worst Person” got a head start from presenter Williamson before the award.

– He had put a bottle of wine near our seats, says the manager with a laugh.

Pål Sverre Hagen won the first prize of the evening for “Best Male Lead” for his role in the film “The middle man”.

– It arrived very quickly, says Hagen after the awards ceremony on NRK 2.

The Best Actress award obviously went to Renate Reinsve for her role in “The Worst Person in the World”.

– It changed my whole life, he says in his acceptance speech.

– I am incredibly grateful and so proud of what we have done.

The film also won the Best Screenplay award, written by Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier.

After the award, the duo reveals that they are busy with their next project and that they “work every day at the moment”.

Best Supporting Actor went to Anders Danielsen Lie for his role in the film.

He thanks his mother for everything she has learned about the profession. Tone Danielsen won the “Actress of the Year” award the first year she was awarded the Amanda Award in 1985.

The best documentary film of the year was “Nattebarn”, directed by Petter Aaberg and Sverre Kvamme and produced by Carsten Annonsen and Even Benestad.

It is the first true film of the duo of young directors.

“Nattebarn” is a representation of Oslo at night, with a focus on mental health.

In the acceptance speech they thank the people who contributed to the documentary, the so-called “children of the night”.

– You are incredibly brave and have allowed us to take part in your lives, says Kvamme.

Emotional speech

Perhaps the most emotional speech of the evening came from Sara Khorami, who won the award for “Best Supporting Actress” in the film “No Laughing”.

Among other things, Khorami praises fellow actor Odd Magnus Williamson, who sits clearly moved in the hall.

The honorary award was presented by the Minister of Culture and Equality, Anette Trettebergstuen.

– The Norwegian film wouldn’t be what the Norwegian film is without this year’s winner, says Trettebergstuen from the stage.

The Aage Aaberge Award winner received many good words from big names in the Norwegian film industry.

Contested

The award for the best children’s film of the year went to “Three Nuts to Cinderella”.

Only two films were nominated in the category.

A discussion about whether it was fair to award the prize with so few entries preceded the award.

Award winners, child actors from the film “The Invisibles” often point out that they want more Norwegian children’s films.

Producer Cecilie Mosli agrees.

– We need to invest more in children’s films, because I would not have become what I am without the films from the Malangen village cinema, which changed me as a person and allowed me to dare to dream, he says in his acceptance speech.

The Amanda Prize has been awarded since 1985.

The award ceremony takes place under the auspices of the Den norske filmfestivalen AS in collaboration with the Norwegian Film Institute. The Amanda committee is responsible for selecting the winners.
