Chinese President Xi Jinping has stressed the value of ordinary labor and its importance in building a prosperous society. (TAKE VO) He made the remark in a response letter to two workers at Mount Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui Province. He praised Li Peisheng and Hu Xiaochun for their years of keeping the mountain clean and maintaining the famous ‘welcome pine’. President Xi encouraged them to continue their exemplary work, wishing them to inspire more people. Since 2008, China has established an annual list of “good men” to honor ordinary citizens who stand out in work or in life. Li Peisheng and Hu Xiaochun were elected in 2012 and 2021.
