Shin Yong-gu wins final after overtime at Woosung Construction Open… First win in 4 years

Shin Yong-gu, a Canadian Korean, won the first championship in four years at the Woosung Construction Open (total prize of 700 million won, winning prize of 140 million won).

Shin Yong-gu made his mark on the summit by winning the final round of the KPGA Korean Tour Woosung Construction Open (total prize money of 700 million won) at the Yeongam Kyle Phillips Course (par 72) in South Lynx, Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do on the 14th.

In the final round, Shin Yong-gu shot a 3-under par 69 with two five-bogey birdies and a final total of 13-under 275, tied for first place and competed with Kang Kyung-Nam.

Shin Yong-koo went into overtime on the 18th hole (par 4) by slightly shifting the 3m birdie putt to the side of the hole cup. The first leg of the overtime draw was a par, and in the second leg of overtime on the 18th hole (par 4), Kang Yong-gu’s putt came back from the hole cup, but Yong-gu Shin made a 3m putt without missing a beat and was delighted with the intense uppercut victory ceremony.

Shin has been active on various tours such as Canada McKinsey Tour, China Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA Tour China, and has been playing on the Korean Tour since 2019.

Kang Kyung-nam, who was tied for 16th until the third round, caught five birdies without bogeying in the fourth round and shot a 5-under 67. Kang Kyung-nam, who has a record of 11 wins in his career, unfortunately missed the chance to win 12 and had to be content with the runner-up.

Seung-Min Kim, Chan-Woo Kim, Jae-Min Hwang, and Kwan-Woo Ma finished the tournament in a tie for third place with a final total of 12-under 276, one stroke behind the lead.

Yoon Seong-ho and Lee Seong-min, who were tied for first place in the third round, finished the match in joint 13th place side by side.

Defending champion Sang-hyeon Park tied for 18th, and Min-kyu Kim, who took 1st place in prize money ranking and grand prize points, tied for 24th.
