Shortly before 9 a.m. this morning, we are waiting for our bus to reach the editorial office of News Nantes when a lady wonders: “Why is there a French flag on the bus? “. Each year, public transport in the TAN network displays a blue white red flag on August 12 to commemorate the liberation of Nantes on August 12, 1944.
78 years later
On the morning of August 12, 1944, the Germans left Nantes, at 4 p.m. the first American convoys entered the city of the Dukes. 78 years later we commemorate this event to pay tribute and not to forget.
Early this Friday morning, a traditional protocol ceremonyin the presence of elected officials and the Consul of the United States in France, took place near the War memorial, quai Ceineray in Nantes.
