2021/2022 UEFA Player of the Year nominees: Benzema, Courtois, De Bruyne

Top three nominations UEFA Player of the Year 2021/2022 has been announced. They are Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtoisand Kevin De Bruyne.

UEFA announced the nominations for the 2021/2022 UEFA Best Player (UEFA Men’s Player of The Year) on Friday (12/8/2022) evening WIB. In addition to mentioning the three names, UEFA also released the names of 12 players who entered the top 15.

Karim Benzema was nominated after guiding Real Madrid to Champions League and LaLiga titles. The French striker is also the 2021/2022 Champions League Player of the Year and topped the list of top scorers with 15 goals.

Thibaut Courtois also impressed when Real Madrid won the Champions League. The Belgian international goalkeeper was voted Man of the Match in the final after denying Liverpool a number of chances.

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne is in the top three of UEFA’s Player of the Year nominations for the third year in a row. He was the Premier League Player of the Year after leading Manchester City to the Premier League title.

Meanwhile in the coach category, the three names nominated for the 2021/2022 UEFA Best Coach are Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola, and Jurgen Klopp.

The announcement of the winners of these awards will take place in conjunction with the draw for the 2022/2023 Champions League group stage on August 25 in Istanbul, Turkey. Winners will be selected by vote by coaches and journalists’ representatives in the UEFA confederation countries.
