Author of the controversial novel ‘The Satanic Verses’ or ‘Satanic Verses’, Salman Rushdie, was attacked while on stage in New York. Salman was stabbed in the neck.
Reported AFP, Friday (12/8/2022), a video posted on social media showed a number of people helping him after being attacked at an event in Chautauqua. Salman is said to have been stabbed by someone.
“Most horrific incident just happened at #chautauquainstitution – Salman Rushdie was attacked on stage in #chq2022. Amphitheater evacuated,” a witness said on social media. AFP.

The Chautauqua Sheriff’s Office said it could not confirm a stabbing. They did not provide further details on the stabbing incident.
Perpetrators Detained
The local police are still investigating this case. A suspect has been arrested.
“A male suspect ran onto the stage and attacked Rushdie and an interviewer. Rushdie suffered stab wounds to the neck, and was transported by helicopter to a regional hospital. His condition is unknown,” police said in a statement.
It is known, Salman once wrote ‘The Satanic Verses’ in 1988. The novel was criticized by some Muslims because it was considered disrespectful to the Prophet Muhammad.
