Italian sports luxury car manufacturer Maserati has revealed that the third generation of the Ghibli sedan will be its last, and the Ferrari V8 engine used for many years will also disappear from the range.
Maserati Ghibli will retire in 2024, but it will not be without a successor, as the manufacturer plans to fill the vacant niche with the new generation Quattroporte. This model, expected to arrive in 2025, will be reduced in size to the size of the current Ghibli and will have an electric drive.
This means that instead of two sedans, only one will remain in Maserati’s offer, but this is not all news yet – the manufacturer has indicated that the ally for many years, Ferrari’s 3.8-liter engine, which was installed in Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo modifications, will not survive the winds of change either. .
The manufacturer will abandon the eight-cylinder engine, but its place will be taken by the Nettuno unit with six cylinders of its own production, which develops 630 hp and 730 Nm. Let us add that this engine is already used in the designs of the Grecale crossover and the MC20 supercar.
