Mixed relay team fastest to European Championship final in 4×100 meter medley | NOW

The Dutch mixed team for the 4×100 meter medley has convincingly qualified for the final on Friday at the European Championships in Rome. Kira Toussaint, Arno Kamminga, Nyls Korstanje and Tessa Giele swam the best time: 3.46.64.

The Dutch were half a second faster than Germany. Poland set the third fastest time and was almost one and a half seconds slower. The final is scheduled for Friday evening at 7:40 PM.

The Dutch relay swimmers surprisingly took the gold in the 4×200 meter freestyle on Thursday. The young Orange Quartet (Imani de Jong, Silke Holkenborg, Janna van Kooten and Marrit Steenbergen) captured the European title in 7.54.07 in the outdoor swimming pool in the Foro Italico.

Maaike de Waard and Kim Busch have reached the semi-finals of the 50 meter butterfly in the European title fight in the Italian capital. De Waard swam the fifth fastest time of the series (26.01), Busch the seventh (26.22).

Giele (26.44) also joined the sixteen fastest swimmers with the eleventh time (26.44). However, she misses the semi-final battle, because only two swimmers from the same country are allowed to continue from the series.

Tes Schouten qualified ninth for the next round of the 100-meter breaststroke (1.07.54). Stan Pijnenburg’s seventh time in the 100-meter freestyle (48.57) was also sufficient for a place in the semi-finals.
