Another advantage is reliability and the fact that they work throughout their lifetime. While you can’t fix conventional bulbs, if an LED bulb breaks, it’s easy to fix.
What are the advantages of an LED bulb?
An LED bulb is 10 times more efficient than a filament bulb. Another plus is, frequent switching off and on does not affect its life, which is extremely long. It is very durable, does not contain mercury, and above all, you save significantly on consumption. These are already reasons to buy light bulbs, despite the higher purchase price. But it will come back to you very quickly.
You can claim the light bulb
If you are not a handyman and have no ambition to repair the light bulb, you can usually put it in for a claim. Manufacturers often state that the bulb should last for a thousand hours, and if you bought it two weeks ago, you are entitled to a claim. But if you dare, you can try to repair the light bulb yourself at home, or ask for help from someone more technically proficient in the household.
How to repair an LED bulb?
You will need a soldering iron and a piece of wire. Unscrew the top part of the light bulb and put it aside. You will have a circle of LEDs in front of you, one of which is burned out and interrupts the circuit, therefore the bulb does not light up. You carefully lift this diode with a file, for example, to see the contacts. It is possible that there are more defective diodes, in which case you will need to repair them as well. Melt a piece of wire with solder and stick it where the faulty diode was. After the material has solidified, the function of the bulb should be restored.
But definitely do not try this method if you have no experience with soldering. Even this type of repair is not intended for complete laymen, but rather for skilled handymen who occasionally repair something. If the repair is not successful, a new bulb must be purchased.
