Zapping The AutoBlog Cupra Formentor VZ5 test on snow
In all, 23,555 vehicles are affected. The NHTSA (United States Federal Highway Safety Agency) explains in its official publication that “The brake fluid reservoir cap may not be bleeding properly”creating “a vacuum inside the brake fluid reservoir” likely to lead “a brake fluid leak, which can lead to a partial or total loss of braking function”.
Note that, once the liquid has dropped by 50%, a warning light appears on the dashboard and the models display a message indicating a low liquid level and the injunction to go to a dealership. In some models, an acoustic signal may also sound. The automaker is also working on a new message to display inside vehicles when the brake fluid level gets too low.
The brake fluid system is obviously a concern on the side of Maranello, which is supplied by Bosch in this area. Two recent recalls have already occurred related to this item : in October 2021, 10,000 cars were recalled due to a risk of brake fluid leakage and in April 2022, a recall campaign similar to the one arriving in the USA had been launched in China for more than 2000 models.
