Although it wasn’t always easy to see, the pop comet spread a lot of good vibes during the Island Festival.
The second day of the Øya Festival is slowly coming to an end, and a concert many have been looking forward to is about to take place. Marie Ulven, better known as Girl in Red, has in recent years become one of Norway’s biggest pop exports. We’re talking hundreds of millions of streams, fans around the world and a status as a role model.
The sea of people you fight through to get around Tøyenparken is dense. Queuing culture is variable and you have to be prepared for a number of stops along the way. Still, I miraculously manage to maneuver my way down to the Circus, where another large number of excited spectators await. The audience stands far outside the tent cloth, which I also noticed at Emilie Nicolas yesterday. These are artists who might as well have played at Amfiet, the festival’s biggest stage.
