Los AVE trains with origin/destination Orihuela that link to a shuttle service Murcia and Cartagena stations add 63,000 passengers during the first year. These services have continuity towards the Region of Murcia with an integrated AVE + Shuttle ticket giving free access to the Orihuela-Murcia-Balsicas- Torre Pacheco and Cartagena section, Renfe sources reported in a statement.
More than 156,000 customers have traveled on the Madrid-Elche-Orihuela high-speed trains this year. The Madrid-Orihuela route has been the most demanded, with 105,000 travellers, of which 60% have used the shuttle that connects Orihuela ‘Miguel Hernández’ with the Region of Murcia.
The High Speed service between Madrid-Elche-Orihuela began its route on February 1, 2021 with four daily Ave trains, two in each direction. Currently, since December 12, 2021, two of the four Ave trains that link Madrid with Elche and Orihuela, directly connect, in High Speed, four Alicante cities: Alicante, Villena, Elche and Orihuela.
