The home team started with four changes compared to the first match, Šašinka started at the tip of the three-man attack. From the beginning, only three footballers played in the squad of the Turkish vice-champion, who started a week ago in Istanbul. Czech representative Filip Novák was only on the bench again.
Slovácko’s plans included an active game that would put the visiting team under pressure and force them to make mistakes. In the 2nd minute Duskí fired over, but it was the only action towards the Turkish goal for a long time.
Knowing that they had a comfortable lead, Fenerbahce defended honestly and launched quick counterattacks. After one of them, Güler’s collaboration with Crespo ended in Nguyen’s arms. The club from Uherské Hradiště had a problem with the high intensity of the opponent’s movement and also the great organization of the game, which made it impossible to play quality play and to get within range of Bayindir’s shrine.
And so the scoring chances in the first half were born mainly in front of Nguyen. In the 27th minute, Rossi shot hard, a moment later Dursun, and even Rossi’s header ended up in the arms of the home goalkeeper.
In the second half, after all, Slovácko put the favored opponent under pressure. Although he did not lack dedication and fighting spirit to the limit, it was not enough for the quality of Turkish footballers. Dursun was able to do it to the full, who managed to cope with inconspicuous defenders before the penalty spot and opened the score with a hard shot to the post – 0:1.
However, the team from Uherské Hradiště soon equalized. The goalie still kicked Trávník’s header, but it did not reach Šašinka’s stop. “Michal (Trávník) ran well behind the defense, his shot somehow bounced and I hit the ball not quite ideally. If I had hit it well, maybe the goalkeeper would have caught it. I was also lucky,” Sašinka described.
Nervousness and shyness fell from the home team, and with the support of a full stadium, they tried to win the victory for their side. In the 69th minute, Kohút fired hard, but only at the goalkeeper. The experienced guests subsequently watched the draw and progress.
“The fans pushed us, it was a great match. It is valuable for the whole of Slovakia to draw with such a team. I believe that it will help us in the next fights,” Sašinka added.
In the 4th preliminary round of the European Conference League, Slovácko will face AIK Stockholm, who eliminated Škendiji Tetovo after a penalty shootout. Vienna Austria awaits Fenerbahce in the play-offs of the Europa League.
