Primark is closing two stores in Germany for the first time. The fashion discounter apparently decided to take this step for economic reasons.
Primark – The advance of fashion discounter Primark has seemed unstoppable in recent years. The fashion chain with headquarters in Ireland has already opened 32 branches in Germany. Now, for the first time, Primark markets in this country are being closed again.

Primark Closing Stores: How Many Locations Will Be Closing?
Since entering the German market, Primark has expanded nationwide. The start in Bremen and Frankfurt am Main was followed by further branches in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin and a few other cities. In Berlin alone there are four Primarks – still.
Because in 2023 the fashion discounter will close its branch in the Schloss-Straßen-Center in Berlin. There will be a second Primark closure next year in Weiterstadt, near Darmstadt, in Hesse. Primark, during routine site reviews, has decided not to renew the relevant store leases, reports textile industry. Accordingly, “both locations are no longer commercially attractive for Primark”. Primark will close its branch in Weiterstadt on January 31, 2023. The location in the Schloss-Straßen-Center in Berlin will follow just a few months later. This branch will be closed on April 30, 2023. The employees have already been informed personally, according to Primark.

In which NRW cities is Primark available?
Primark has been in Germany since 2009. The first branch in Bremen, which opened in May 2009, was followed by a Primark in Frankfurt am Main in November of the same year. There are now 32 branches across Germany, ten of which are in North Rhine-Westphalia. Primark’s NRW branches are in Bielefeld, Bonn, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Krefeld, Cologne, Münster and Wuppertal.
Primark is thus entering the current wave of closures in the fashion industry. The fashion company C&A is also currently closing several branches in Germany.
