Barcelona offers two conditions for Frenkie de Jong if you want to stay at the Camp Nou. Will the 25-year-old player agree to the offer?
Reported Sky SportsFirst, Barcelona asked De Jong to agree to a significant salary reduction, thereby reducing the salary cap and making it easier for clubs to register new players bought this summer.
To note, De Jong is paid 20 million Euros this season, as agreed in a new contract he signed in October 2020, the same month as the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu from the club president.

This figure includes the salary installments suspended by Barcelona during the COVID-19 pandemic, which totals 18 million Euros and will be paid in stages until 2026. Well, the second condition relates to the debt.
Instead of paying it off, Barcelona make a bid settlement to only pay around 7 million Euros of that amount. That way, they can move on and not be burdened with the debt for the next four years.
De Jong’s representatives left for Barcelona last Wednesday (10/8) to discuss De Jong’s future, as reported ESPN. The fate of Martin Braithwaite was also discussed, considering that he was under the same agency as De Jong.
Currently, there is Chelsea who is eyeing the midfielder who dropped out of Ajax Amsterdam. The Blues are reportedly ready to pay £72 million, and that amount is believed to include money to pay off debts Barcelona to De Jong.
