Idris Elba really wants Bloodsport to face Superman in a future movie

In the midst of uncertainty for the DCEU, Idris Elba spoke about the clash between Bloodsport, his character in The Suicide Squadand Superman.

Nothing has changed, it’s still chaos at DC. The change in management at WarnerMedia has resulted in a brutal overhaul of the entire DCEU equation, with the desire to wipe the slate clean of the past and what is not working. Unfortunately, Ezra Miller’s relentless pranks (to say the least) make their film the most important, The Flash, increasingly unlikely. A potential disaster which, in addition to the rest, has not finished spilling ink and confusing Warner’s famous ten-year plans to compete with the Marvel universe.

In the midst of all this mess, James Gunn wants to be reassuring. The filmmaker is the only one to have achieved the feat of making himself almost indispensable at Marvel and DC at the same time. In fact, his projects for Warner would not be the most worried: series Peacemaker would not be threatened and should therefore have its second season whatever happens.

Good news for fans, especially since other spin-offs from The Suicide Squad would be planned. This leaves optimists and not only us. Idris Elba, interpreter of the memorable Bloodsport, would be very hot to return to the skin of his characterand for a big fight.

The all-risk agency.

In The Suicide Squadthe super criminal Bloodsport is introduced as the man who injured Superman with a kryptonite bullet. If this detail is enough to suggest the threat embodied by the character, it also gives the imagination the fantasy of this seductive fight.

The actor, in promotion for his future film, Beastanswered questions from Variety and brought up the subject:

I definitely want to tell this story with Superman, there’s no doubt. Bloodsport versus Superman, it has to happen.

It remains to be seen if such a story could be the subject of a prequel or a sequel to The Suicide Squad featuring the rematch between Clark Kent and Robert DuBois (yes that’s Bloodsport’s real name).

On paper, why not! But it is obvious that at present it remains very complicated to set up. For all the reasons mentioned above, Warner will have a hard time letting its most iconic characters appear freely in future feature films. It’s not even known when Superman would likely return and if Henry Cavill will still be the interpreter.

Idris Elba is not about to cross swords with the Kryptonian under the current conditions. But the idea remains on the table. We hope, however, that if ever such a scenario should happen, it does not duplicate the fight of Batman v Superman (which had a similar balance of power). Also, the violent and barbaric potential of such a versus must be fully assumed.
