The National Basketball Association (NBA), International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Basketball Australia (BA) have announced the top 64 boys and girls from 18 countries across Asia-Pacific. to travel to Canberra Australia to attend the 12th edition of the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Camp in Asia from Sunday Aug. 7 to Wednesday Aug. 10 at NBA Global Academy, the premier basketball academy located. at the BA Center of Excellence at the Australian Institute of Sport
BWB Asia 2022 will mark the first time the NBA and FIBA basketball development program has been implemented in Asia-Pacific since 2019 in Japan. And for the first time in Australia since 2016 in Melbourne, the camp will bring together top players, males and females under 18 from across the Asia-Pacific region to compete with peers across the region. Youth will also have the opportunity to learn basketball skills directly from current and former NBA, WNBA and FIBA players and coaches.
NBA players and coaches will organize a variety of events. including practicing movement techniques for maximum efficiency Aggressive and defensive skill station 3 point shooting matches, 5v5 games, and also includes life skills training and leadership development. Taking place on the final day of the camp, the BWB Asia 2022 MVP, Defensive MVP, Three-Point Champion and Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award is presented to boys and girls who stand out on the field and as leaders.
41 former players who joined the BWB camp, developed into an international player and part of 121 playersIn the NBA opening-night rosters in 2021-22, which includes 2022 NBA All-Rookie Second Team members Josh Giddy, NBA Global Academy graduates Josh Green and Rui Hajimura, who Be a member of the 2020 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
Camp participants will be coached by top NBA players Jarrett Allen (2022 NBA All-Star, Cleveland Cavaliers), Josh Green (Dallas MA. Feverricks), Cameron Johnson (Phoenix Suns) and Kobe White (Chicago Bulls).
The NBA and FIBA have hosted 64 BWB camps in 30 countries since its launch in 2001. The BWB has attended more than 3,800 people from 133 countries and territories. There are 105 camp participants who have made their way into the NBA and WNBA.
