Thiruvananthapuram: A man has been arrested in the case of illegally rearing two-headed snake for sale.

Shafir Khan (33) was arrested near Thennur Kochukarikakam Bridge. A case was registered against the three co-accused by the Palaod Range Officer.

The snake was found on the basis of a tip-off received by the Forest Intelligence Cell Range Division.

Possession and sale of two-tailed snake is punishable under the Wildlife Protection Act. The snake was kept in a compost tank near Shafir Khan’s house. Shamjeer (32) of Kochukarikakam T.P. House, Ansil (31) of Tennur Ansia Mansil, and Shan (31) of Tennur Suryakanthi Tattarikatthuveetil bought the snake from the shop.
