NFT for Rp. 2.9 billion, stolen by hackers, for sale at 50 percent discount

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Non-Fungible Token (NFT) digital assets cannot be separated from the threat of hacking. This is what the co-founder and CEO experienced startup named Cameo, Steven Galanis.

Galanis reported that his Apple ID was hacked, and as a result, he lost various NFTs that he had. Of those NFTs the most famous include the Bored Ape Yacht Club macaque which he bought for nearly US$320 thousand (around Rp. 4.8 billion) in January.

Ia men-tweet about the theft of Ape #9012 last weekend, following bot who reported the NFT stolen from it had been resold. Galanis originally purchased the ape image NFT for 100 Ethereum at the time of purchase.

The alleged thief handed it over to the new owner for 77 ETH, which is now worth around $130,000.

In total, Galanis lost US$ 190 thousand in crypto assets (approximately Rp 2.9 billion).

Galanis tweeted that he had also lost several other crypto assets, including Otherside tokens of around 9,000 ApeCoin tokens which are currently worth around $66K.

Launch The VergeWednesday (10/8/2022) OpenSea has reportedly frozen the NFT in question, thereby preventing the new owner – called MonroeSaintJames – from selling it through the platform.

The details of the hack he experienced are not very clear through tweet which he wrote. Some Twitter users suggested that he keep a copy of the initial phrase on a service that uses iCloud backup.
