Crack in switch at Leiden Central disrupts train traffic in Randstad | NOW

Train traffic at Leiden Central has been disrupted by a crack in a point section of a switch. The NS reports that no train traffic is possible between Hoofddorp and Leiden until 23.30. The disruption has an effect on train traffic throughout the Randstad.

Leiden is an important train junction, which means that only limited train traffic is possible in other places. There is extra pressure between Schiphol and Rotterdam due to the disruption. The route between Amsterdam and Lelystad is also very busy.

There are also fewer intercity trains on the route between Leiden and The Hague. This is expected to be resolved around 3 p.m. and more intercity trains can be used again. The NS has deployed stop buses on the section between Leiden and Hoofddorp.
