Scientist posted photo of salami on dark background and claimed to be a star

The head of the research department at French Atomic Energy Commission, Étienne Klein, published on his Twitter the image of what he claimed to be a star. According to him, it was taken by the James Webb telescope and revealed details of the star.
In the post, he wrote: “Photo of Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the Sun, located 4.2 light years from us. It was captured by the JWST. This level of detail… A new world is revealed day after day from the nearest star to the sun.”
But after gaining repercussion on the social network, Étienne claimed that it was all a joke and that the image, in fact, was of a salami on a black background.
When apologizing, the scientist suggested a reflection on the veracity of information circulating on the internet. “We will learn to distrust both the arguments of authorities and the spontaneous eloquence of certain images,” he wrote.
