2 Haaland Goals Win The Citizens

Manchester City started the 2022/2023 Premier League with a 2-0 win over West Ham United. Erling Haaland immediately showed off by buying up City goals.

From West Ham vs Man City held at the London Stadium, Sunday (7/8/2022) evening WIB. Haaland started as a starter in this match.

Haaland opened City’s advantage in the 36th minute through a penalty. The new City striker then scored his second goal in the 65th minute after utilizing Kevin De Bruyne’s through ball.

The way of the game

West Ham threatened Man City’s goal in the third minute. Starting from a corner kick, the ball that was not blocked perfectly fell to the feet of Jarrod Bowen. However, his shot was blocked.

West Ham still continued the experiment through Manuel Lanzini who then released a cross from the left. Michail Antonio heads the ball, but it bounces over the crossbar.

City patiently build attacks. City’s attack ended with Phil Foden’s pass from the right which was continued by Erling Haaland with a header. The ball is still wide of the goal.

City had broken into West Ham’s goal in the 27th minute. Kevin De Bruyne completes a pull pass from Ilkay Gundogan. However, the goal was disallowed because Gundogan was in an offside position when he received the ball from Haaland.

City got a penalty in the 36th minute. The referee pointed to the spot after Haaland was brought down by West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

Haaland stepped forward as executor. City’s new striker directed his shot into the bottom left corner of the goal and successfully outwit Areola. Haaland opened his Premier League goals account to put City 1-0 up.

City got a free kick in front of the West Ham penalty box. However, Gundogan’s shot was blocked by West Ham’s posse.

In the midst of City’s dominance early in the second half, West Ham had a chance. Declan Rice who received the ball in front of the penalty box tried to open a shot, but still bounced over the City goal.

City failed to add a goal after getting a chance in the 62nd minute. De Bruyne released a low pass from the right side. After Haaland failed to reach it, Gundogan hit the ball wide of the net.

Said Benrahma failed to take advantage of the opportunity a minute later. His low shot was still aimed right at Ederson.

Goal! Haaland scores again! De Bruyne’s through ball leads right to Haaland. He then calmly directed a shot into the bottom corner of the West Ham goal to put City 2-0 up.

City re-press despite already winning two goals. Opportunities were obtained by the visitors through Haaland’s header which continued Jack Grealish’s pass. But Haaland’s effort was still flying over the goal.
