They denounce transformer failure that affects more than 200 families in San Antonio

7 Ago, 2022 | More than 200 families in the Rojas de San Antonio sector, García de Nueva Esparta municipality, are left without electricity for two or three days every week. This due to the failure of the only transformer that feeds the power line in the area.
According to neighbors, they received a visit from engineer Edison Velásquez, manager of Distribution of Corpoelec Nueva Esparta, together with a commission from the state company, to whom they told them that their request had been successfully processed and they were only waiting for approval from the Territorial Management.
Said visit was made more than 20 days ago and the community has not received a response from Corpoelec, and the blackouts continue, putting the community at risk of permanently losing power.
Fabricio López Alfonzo, councilor of the García municipality, stated “We are accompanying the neighbors to carry out the pertinent steps before Corpoelec, who promised to resolve this situation and have not yet responded. That is why we call on the territorial manager to take action on the matter because in this sector there are vulnerable people, among whom are children and the elderly who, if they remain permanently without electricity, could suffer serious problems.
The residents of this area of the García municipality call on the competent authorities to solve this problem. They indicate that they do not understand how two months after the first transformer was taken, they have not returned it.
The constant and prolonged power outages are due to the fact that the only transformer left in the area does not have enough capacity to supply all the houses.
