New coach Erika ten Hag did not have a successful debut on the Manchester United bench. His charges were not enough in Sunday’s meeting of the 1st round of the Premier League at Brighton & Hove Albion, which they lost 1:2 at home.

German midfielder Pascal Gross was largely responsible for the three-point catch of the guests at Old Trafford. In the 30th minute, he capitalized on a pass from Danny Welbeck in front of an open goal, and nine minutes later he finished off a quick break when Solly March’s shot hit the back of the net.
The Hag tried to stir up the stagnant offensive waters shortly after the break when he sent Cristiano Ronaldo to the turf. The home team managed to reduce the score in the 68th minute, when Alexis Mac Allister inadvertently scored an own goal after a corner in an attempt to deflect the ball to safety – 1:2. In the next course, however, the “red devils” could not create pressure that would result in an equalization.
Leicester City did not maintain a two-goal lead and only drew 2:2 with Brentford on their home turf. In the 86th minute, Josh Dasilva tied the score.
