In the first part of the concert, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra performed the overture from Leonard Bernstein’s operetta “Candid” and, together with pianist Vestard Šimka, the piano concerto created by the American composer George Gershwin in 1925, the representative of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra told the portal.
In the second part of the concert, the visitors were delighted by the music of Hollywood composer John Williams, written for Steven Spielberg’s famous film “Catch Me If You Can”. Oskars Petrauskis (saxophone), Marta Kauliņa-Pelnēna (percussion instruments) and Guntis Kolerts (double bass) played the soloist parts in this work.
Spanish moods were created by Mexican composer Arturo Marquez’s “Danson no. 2” and Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero”.
