Municipalities – Freiburg im Breisgau – Police satisfied with video surveillance of the party area – Panorama

Freiburg (dpa/lsw) – Around two weeks after the start of video surveillance in downtown Freiburg, the police were satisfied. The officers intervened three times in the past two weekends in cases of physical injury, as Freiburg police vice president Matthias Zeiser told Südwestrundfunk (SWR) on Friday. Officials also prevented possible escalations and criminal offenses in five other cases.

In order to prevent nocturnal crimes or to make it easier to investigate afterwards, the police in the southern Baden metropolis turn on 16 cameras in the so-called Bermuda Triangle on Fridays and Saturdays and on nights before public holidays. This is a well-known nightlife district. Other cities in the state, such as Stuttgart, also rely on video surveillance to have a better view of the situation in central squares.
