More than an exhibition, it is above all a charitable approach in favor of the elderly in mental and physical difficulty, accommodated in specialized establishments. The funds raised by the various actions of the Jardins et santé association make it possible to equip these structures with suitable gardening spaces. Raised or espaliered flowerbeds give each resident the opportunity to handle garden tools and have contact with the earth and plants.
Seeing the plants grow, admiring the flowers, picking fruits and vegetables… This permanent link with nature allows the elderly to exercise their senses by using equipment and sharing their feelings with other residents. Many structures outside Bordeaux are developing this concept, “but practically none in the city center”, points out the regional delegate.
The exhibition is visible every day from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Espace Saint-Rémi (rue Jouannet).
