JAKARTA, celebrities.id – monkey pox cannot be taken lightly. Although the fatality rate is only 0-16 percent, which means it is not lethal, it can still cause serious problems in certain groups.
Monkeypox will affect people with the disorder immune, children, or pregnant women. The high transmission of cases in the United States has made the country to issue a public health emergency status. World Health Organization (WHO) alone has reported 26,000 cases of monkeypox worldwide.
This disease has a special character compared to chickenpox, or other infections. The long incubation period is an important point that must be considered. The incubation period is the time from the start of infection to the onset of symptoms. In the case of monkeypox, the incubation period can be 4 weeks.
However, an interesting fact was conveyed by the Head of the Monkeypox PB IDI Task Force, Dr. Hanny Nilasari, SpKK, that monkeypox patients who have strong immunity will show symptoms faster than those with low immunity.
“Patients with strong immunity can show symptoms faster than those with low immunity. This determines how long they are attacked by this disease,” said Dr. Hanny in a virtual press conference, Friday (5/8/2022).
That’s why it’s very important for monkeypox patients to increase their body’s immunity, either by eating balanced nutritious foods and getting enough rest. In addition, if you experience symptoms, medical treatment can help speed healing. Well, in those who have immune disorders, because the incubation period is longer, it allows them to experience a longer prodromal phase and eruption phase.
In the prodromal phase, the patient will experience fever, severe headache, enlarged lymph nodes, back pain or muscle pain, and weakness. Well, the duration of the pain will be very long in the eruption phase, which is a condition when the patient realizes that a rash appears on the skin. The rash initially takes the form of red patches or spots, followed by pus-filled blisters, until finally scab.
In this phase, monkeypox patients with weak immune conditions can go through a three-week phase. Of note, the first lesions appear one to three days after the fever. From the first spot, it will become a dark lesion after 96 hours. Only then become elastic pus after six days and scab after nine days.
