China has more than 3,000 higher education institutions in 2022, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Education. In addition to more than 200 colleges for adults, the country has 2,759 general higher education institutes, including 1,270 universities, and 1,489 higher vocational colleges and academies.
Beijing leads the country with 92 higher education institutions, while Wuhan and Guangzhou are tied for second with 83 higher education institutions.
