Swiss companies get off to a strong start in a difficult semester | markets macro

The headwind for the Swiss economy will increase in the coming months. But companies are well prepared. This is the conclusion reached by the Economic Research Center of the ETH, Kof. She surveyed 4,500 companies from industry, construction and numerous services.

The business situation got a little setback in July, sums up Kof. But the situation is better than at the beginning of the year and better than it has been for around ten years.

Fewer bottlenecks, less inflation

The problem of delivery bottlenecks and missing materials is still considerable. But it hasn’t gotten any worse since spring. The industry has filled its intermediate product warehouses somewhat, and wholesalers are less likely than before to anticipate longer delivery times. In part, though, that’s because more companies expect demand to flatten or slow down.
