Butter lived to be 97 years old.

She was close friends with the 96-year-old regent all her life. The Queen and her late sister, Princess Margaret, attended Lady Myra’s wedding to Major David Butter in 1946.

Last year, Lady Myra told the British newspaper The Telegraph about the relationship with the queen with whom she took swimming lessons.

– The queen said it was a very long time ago. Well, it really is, I think I was 12. I’m lucky that way. My memory is good and so is hers, Lady Mary told the paper.

SEVERAL VISITS TO NORWAY: Queen Elizabeth has been to Norway several times. Here on a state visit to Norway in 1981. The picture shows the Queen together with King Olav at a gala dinner at the Castle. Behind them can be seen the then Crown Princess Sonja and Prince Philip.

Praised the Queen’s humour

She also recalled social gatherings where girls were brought to Buckingham Palace to be with the Queen.

– It was a nice mix, which was nice. Some friends, family and people connected to the news picture surrounding the royals, such as their children, said Lady Myra.

The deceased was a cousin of the Queen’s husband, the late Prince Philip. In the interview, she emphasized the queen’s sense of humor.

– A very good sense of humor that she has had all her life.

In recent years, Queen Elizabeth — naturally considering her age — has lost a number of friends. The oldest of them lived to be 101 years old.

Record-breaking speed

Earlier this year, the queen became hailed for his record-long time on the throne. Seven decades is the longest a British monarch has ever served. Great Britain celebrated the jubilee four-day folk festival.

Throughout the 70 years, considerable changes have taken place in the world around the Queen. When the space age began and the space satellite Sputnik was launched in 1957, she was already a monarch.

Over the years, Queen Elizabeth has, among other things, made 21,000 royal visits and sent over 300,000 congratulatory greetings to 100-year-olds, according to The Guardian.
