Pushing a tunnel box of millions of kilos under the highway: this is what it looks like

At the Batadorp and Leenderheide junctions on the west side of Eindhoven, 200 people will be pushing a gigantic tunnel under the A2 until the end of August. This is done with millimeter precision with machines that are controlled by a special joystick. The parts of the tunnel body alone weigh between 1300 and 1900 tons. The work will cause considerable traffic disruption, with an extra travel time of up to an hour. The tunnel trough cannot be put into use until next year. In this timelapse video you can see how the construction is going.
