Sarri: It’s a shame I didn’t coach young Ronaldo. He scored 33 goals for me in Serie A
–
Lazio-Trainer Maurizio Sarri shared his opinion about the player “Manchester United” Cristiano Ronaldo and recalled the season of working together with the Portuguese at Juventus.
“I regret not having to coach Ronaldo when I was young. At Juventus, Cristiano was already a world football icon. He scored 33 goals in a season in Serie A when I coached the team. I like football where everyone works for the team. It’s not easy to convince a champion with so much experience to change his path”, – quotes the words of Sarri Corriere dello Sport.
Ronaldo played for Juventus Turin from 2018 to 2021. And under the guidance of Sarri, who worked with the team from July 2019 to August 2020, the Portuguese spent 46 games and scored 37 goals in all competitions. Only four coaches have coached Ronaldo longer – Ancelotti (101 games), Zidane (114), Mourinho (164) and Ferguson (292).
