The Monkeypox virus or monkey pox currently gives rise to several epidemics around the world, and particularly in the United States and Europe. Since May 2022, 1,562 cases have been reported in mainland France, and four in Overseas France (Saint-Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique and New Caledonia).
In order to anticipate the introduction of this virus in French Polynesia, the country has authorized the marketing of the vaccine against monkey pox, the specialty IMVANEX. Thus, French Polynesia authorizes the vaccine which would make it possible to vaccinate the population which would be identified at risk of being contaminated against smallpox. Procurement procedures are underway.
In the DROMs (Antilles, Reunion), vaccination has been open since mid-July, and since the end of July in Mayotte. Later, vaccination was opened this week in Guyana.
