From July 25 to 31, “a marked decrease in the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 (continued) on national territory with confirmation of the drop in hospital admissions”, summarizes Public Health France in a weekly newsletter.

33,799 cases detected this Thursday, against 50,000 a week earlier
In one week, hospitalizations therefore fell (-34%), including for critical care alone (-29%). The number of cases continued to decline, as for several weeks.
33,799 cases had been detected on Thursday, against more than 50,000 a week earlier.
The latest wave was declared at the beginning of June. Some researchers then expressed their fears about hospitalizations in a context marked by the end of almost all restrictions, including the wearing of compulsory masks in transport, and the uncertainties surrounding the BA.4 and BA.5 variants of Omicron.
The indicators remain “at high levels”
Ultimately, the number of people hospitalized with Covid appears to be plateauing at a lower level – around 20,000 – than in previous major waves.
Significant development, the decline in cases and hospitalizations now affects almost all regions of mainland France, even if the epidemic has not yet returned to the downward phase in certain overseas territories such as Reunion and Mayotte.
Throughout the territory, “the virological and hospital indicators (remain) nevertheless at high levels”however, underlines Public Health France, always recommending multiple barrier gestures including the wearing of a mask in transport.
