Turkey, agreement on cereals leads to ceasefire
The agreement that unlocked the export of grains from Ukraine through safe corridors in the Black Sea leads to a “complete ceasefire” in the conflict between Moscow and Kiev. This was stated by the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, as reported by Anadolu, hoping that the pact could be “sustainable”. On 22 July, an agreement was found in Istanbul between Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the UN for the export of wheat and similar food products from the ports of Kiev and on Monday a ship loaded with 27,000 tons of cereals left Odessa, the first since Moscow invaded Ukraine in late February. After being inspected in Istanbul by Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian and UN delegates, the ship yesterday set off again for Tripoli in Lebanon, its final destination.
